Portrait of a sculptress
I do quite a lot of commercial portraits these days. These are for people who want images for promotional purposes such as websites and general advertising.
Karen is a local sculptress who needed some new images for her website. She specialises in mythical figures and wanted some shots to accurately represent her style - 'something ethereal, magical almost pre raphaelite'. We decided to use a woodland and lake area about 5 minutes walk from my studio. With outdoor portraits the clothing is absolutely critical and can make or break an image so we decided on a simple plain white dress. I love the work of the pre raphaelites in particular Millais and Rossetti so this particular job was hugely enjoyable.
Anyway please check out Karens website - www.spellbound.eu.com She does some really great and interesting work.

Thanks John,
This was definitely the look we were after so the setting and clothing are vital. Who would have thought these were taken in the centre of Reading !
The black and white you refer to are a new style I'm now offering. It's called split toning and is something that is still done with traditional methods. Here I have done it digitally with an action in photoshop. In the past it could have meant spending hours in a darkroom breathing in toxic chemicals. Notice how the highlight areas have a warm, sepia tone and the darker areas are a cool blue.
Overall a beautiful effect.
